October is
National Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Each October, the P.E.A.C.E. Initiative coordinates events in San Antonio to bring awareness to the problem of
domestic violence.  Events for October 2008 are currently being planned.  If you have any ideas, suggestions
or planned events, please contact us at (210) 533-2729.

The theme for October 2008 is "Be Defiant:  Choose Non Violence"

Below are some of the events planned for this year.  Events will be posted as
they are planned. 

October 1st:   Opening Event - Service of Remembrance -
                       Conference with Survivors
                       St. John's Lutheran Church - 1:00 p.m.
October 4th    Kids P.E.A.C.E. Day - Milam Park - 11:00-2:00 p.m.
October 5th:   St Mary's Rembrance Mass for Survivors 

October 6th:   KSAT Phone Bank 12:00 - 7:00 p.m.
October 7th:   Legislative Update - Estellas Mexican Restaurant - 12:00
October 7th:   Meeting with Sherrif Candidates Amadeo Ortiz and
                       Dennis Mc Knight - 1:00 p.m. following
                       Legislative Update at Estella's
October 15th - Abuse Through Technology - Neighborhood Place 
October 18th:  SACADA - Love Your Life
October 29th:  
Phoenix Awards
